Goldsmith Seeds, Inc. started planting its own seeds in Gilroy, California, more than 38 years ago. Today, Goldsmith Seeds has blossomed into one of the world’s largest wholesale breeders of hybrid flower seed with a reputation for breeding and producing the very best flower varieties. Goldsmith Seeds is the hybridizer of such garden mainstays as ‘Accent’ impatiens, ‘Sierra’ cyclamen, ‘Ultra’ petunias, ‘Americana’ zonal geraniums and ‘Antigua’ marigolds.

Goldsmith Seeds has more than 4,000 employees worldwide developing and producing mostly annual flower seeds for seed companies and growers internationally. Although they have seed production sites in Holland, Guatemala, Central America and Kenya, East Africa, they are still family owned. Three brothers handle different aspects of the business; Joel is President, Richard is the VP of Production and Jim, as seen in the picture, is Operations Manager.

In their 4 acres of greenhouses most of the breeding stock is grown in PRO-MIX 'HP'. Germination is done in PRO-MIX 'PGX'. During summer the 18 acres of nursery is alive with color during the annual pack and field trials. The packs are grown in PRO-MIX 'BX'.

Why PRO-MIX? Jim says they got tired of all the details involved in mixing their own media. A growing medium must be extremely consistent in order to compare the performance of different cultivars and seed lots. They have found PRO-MIX to be of consistent quality and the service reliable - the same things their customers expect.
